We've been obsessed with Everyday Froday since we discovered their empowering, joyful and heartfelt slogan tees and sweatshirts on Instagram. We're elated because you can now shop an array of their pieces on the Boom Shop and in our Battersea Studio!
Everyday Froday was founded in 2018 by Sade & Steph. The dynamic duo wanted to create something that celebrated Black empowerment, and the result is their casual-wear line that is not only seriously comfortable to wear (they mostly use 100% organic cotton) but invokes a sense of pride and acceptance in the wearer.
We chatted to Sade & Steph about what makes Everyday Froday pieces so special, how they embrace the Black community and support female empowerment and what piece of advice they'd give to someone starting their own business.
What are 3 things that make Everyday Froday pieces so special?
- We represent our culture through slogans and statements that speak directly to the diaspora.
- Most of our items are made with 100% organic cotton and are printed in a warehouse that uses renewable energy.
- Our pieces aim to empower and uplift our community.
Everyday Froday is all about embracing the Black community and supporting female empowerment. How do you want people to feel when they wear your clothes?
We want people to feel:
We live in a society which often tells us that our Blackness is a problem. Our community has gone through some horrendous things that no other race has had to endure. So as a brand, we feel like we are playing our part by instilling Black pride back into our community, in our own fun way. We encourage people to always say it with their chest!
What’s the inspiration behind the brand?
The need to want to express ourselves in our truest form. We came from a corporate background and it was often difficult to wear an item of clothing that nodded to our culture in a casual way. So we created it!
Where do you look for inspiration when designing new clothing or collections?
Our community expresses ourselves through popular culture. It can come in the form of music, dance, film, comedy or just life experiences.
Another massive inspiration comes from Africa and the Caribbean. Both continents are rich in culture, knowledge and vibrancy.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting their own business, what would it be?
JUST DO IT. It’s better to try than not do it at all!
What’s next in the world of Everyday Froday?
To be the number one global casual-wear brand for Black empowerment.
