60 Seconds with JoDJ...

Hi Jo! Tell us a little more about you…

Hey! My name is Joanna Poole, l work in motorsport marketing and my big passions is dj’ing (obviously!).

My happy places – Ibiza, friends, family and techno!

How did you get into Dj’ing?

I have always loved music and would often find myself watching DJs when l was out instead of dancing! About 3 years ago l bought myself some second-hand Pioneer 350s, l tried to teach myself but wasn’t getting anywhere fast so l enrolled on to the DJ course at London Sound Academy (LSA) and graduated from the advanced course in 2015.

You've done some awesome events...

Yes! My first gig was at the Horse & Groom in Shoreditch, since then l have played at some great venues in London, including EGG, Ministry of Sound and Fire and last year l was lucky enough to play for LSA in Ibiza.

Awesome! Where is your regular residence?

Things have really stepped up a gear since December when His & Hers asked me to be one of their resident DJs.

We’re so excited to have you as part of our upcoming FILTH - Fit Individuals Like To Have It (Large) - night in Shoreditch. What can BOOM'ers expect from the music..?

I am very excited about the FILTH night, expect a lot of awesome beats with two of my favourite instructors, Melody and Naomi. We’re holding 3 different rides - Hip Hop, DnB and Old School Rave, so there is hopefully something for everyone. I can’t wait to see people with their glow sticks, it’s going to be a lot of fun!

Finally, how did you come across Boom Cycle? What do you like about it?

I came across Boom Cycle a couple of years ago after having some knee trouble and l haven’t stopped going since. It is totally out of my way to get home from work but l love the motivating instructors, being away from my phone and the loud music for 45 minutes, so much so, l quite often do Bang’s class and Jemal’s ride back to back on a Wednesday evening. A lot of people think l am nuts!
