60 Seconds with Charlie McCorry

Hi Charlie! Tell us a little more about you…

Perfect 10 is a huge part of my life and most of my time is spent running the company and growing the business, however I completely understand how important it is to find the right balance. Working out is a big part of my daily life, helping me to clear my mind - it's such a powerful tool and I would recommend exercise to anyone who has a busy lifestyle. Traveling always plays a large part of my role too and one I enjoy very much. I have been very fortunate to have travelled the world with my job whilst growing the Black Label division with clients ranging from LA to Oman in the Middle East. Of course, spending time with my husband, family and friends is also a priority.

Did you have previous roles before becoming a therapist?

I have been involved in the beauty industry for over 15 years. I eat, sleep and breath the industry and its one I am super proud of being involved in. I started my career as a junior therapist on a Saturday and I have always been passionate about making my stamp in the industry -  I am on an amazing journey!

What triggered you to start your own company?

Passion for the industry. I have always wanted to change things, do more and better. This was naturally my next step. I have lots of wonderful plans and a growth strategy to really make a difference not just for me but the industry as a whole. I like to do big things and strive to challenges. My main career aim is to create a company with not only a successful business model, but one that my team and therapists love to work for.

What challenges did you come across, starting out on your own?

When I started my career, I worked immediately in the luxury market (being the first franchisee for Urban Retreat in Harrods. Urban retreat at home) and learning skills to fit a luxury criteria was challenging, including establishing a client base. I had to learn about the industry, how to manage a team and overcome the struggles of running your own business to ensure Perfect 10 was a success. Mobile beauty is tough but incredibly rewarding. Being really organised is important and building strong foundations is essential. My office team is incredible and play a huge part in running the business efficiently and successfully.

How do you think the beauty industry has evolved since Perfect 10 started?

The industry has evolved rapidly. When I first started out Perfect 10 was the first mobile beauty company in the market, and now there are so many. Technology has evolved and the industry has evolved, with beauty & wellness being one of the biggest industries, worth over £17 billion - it's one of the most lucrative in the country. More APP based businesses are entering the beauty industry and tech is becoming a key element of evolving our business. However, beauty requires a personable service and therefore an uber equivalent mobile beauty concept would be taking the beauty out of our industry. We need to maintain a balance :-)

Where do you see the company’s next direction? For Perfect 10, growth is developing our team. We create careers for our therapists and look to develop the Perfect 10 team into the Perfect 10 Black Label Luxury division; a fast-growing division for us. We are receiving even more overseas booking and travel requests so Hub developments in key locations across the world is part of our plans. We have more exciting developments in the pipeline too but sadly I cannot shout about this yet.

Finally, what’s the one thing you do every day to feel badass?

I work out every day, from a short walk round the block or a PT session, to working hard at a fitness class – I cannot wait for your studio in the south to open.  I usually work out with my husband and this is our opportunity to either plan for the day ahead or talk about how the day has been. Exercise is a great way to relive stress and emotions.
